Volleyball Team Earns Academic Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced recently that 684 teams, including South Dakota State, earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2013 season. This number once again breaks the previous years total of 623, and sets a new all-time high for this award.
The Jackrabbits earned the award after posting 3.520 team GPA over the course of the 2013-14 academic year.
“I am very proud of the work that our team has done to earn this academic accomplishment,” head coach Phil McDaniel said. “Their efforts in the classroom continue to impress me. Our team has lofty goals, on the court and in the classroom; and we continue to strive to maintain this high standard.”
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
