BROOKINGS, S.D.—Led by freshman Ashley Beaner (Sioux Falls), the Blue team beat the Yellow team 2-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-20) Saturday in South Dakota State’s Yellow/Blue scrimmage in Frost Arena.

The right side hitter had 10 kills, six digs and two block assists.

Sophomore Tiara Gibson (Clear Lake) led the Yellow team with nine kills and three block assists. Junior Lizzie Palmer (Sioux Falls) and Alana Pengilly (Watertown) each had a match high 15 digs for SDSU. Junior Wagner Larson (Sioux Falls) registered four solo blocks and three block assists for the Blue team.

Senior Margit Hansing (Urbandale, Iowa) made her return to the court after a season-ending injury last year and had six kills and four digs for the Blue team.

Jackrabbit setters sophomore Brooke Leetham (Westminster, Colo.) and freshman Jessi Henter (Clive, Iowa) collected 21 and 28 assists, respectively for Team Blue and Team Yellow.

SDSU opens its 49th season of volleyball Aug. 29 when it plays UMBC at 9 a.m. in the UMES Tournament in Princess Anne, Md. The Jacks make their debut in Frost Arena Sept. 5 when they play Stephen F Austin at noon in the Jackrabbit Invitational.
