SDSU Places Fourth at Bison Open
FARGO, N.D.— The women’s cross country team placed fourth out of five teams at the Bison Open Friday night to open the 2014 season.
The meet was scored based on all possible dual matchups. The Jackrabbits bested Fort Wayne, 20-42, but lost to South Dakota, 38-18, North Dakota State, 32-23, and North Dakota, 36-19.
Samantha Anderson was the lone Jackrabbit to finish in the top 10, completing the 5K course in 19:19.62 to claim seventh place.
Renae Dykstra (20:02.94), Brooke Peterson (20:04.83) and Abigail Phillips (20:04.94) placed in the top 20, finishing 16th, 18th and 19th respectively. Mackenzie Schell placed 21st with a time of 20:18.54, while Sandra Gramer claimed 27th place with a time of 20:24.85.
Marisa Shady placed 32nd with a time of 20:33.11 while Karley Konkol took 35th place with a time of 20:53.30. Whitlee Larson (21:28.68), Bobbie McLaury (21:36.92) and Taylor Walters (22:34.33) also completed the course, finishing 41st, 43rd and 52nd respectively.
The Jackrabbits return to action Friday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Falcon Heights, Minn. to compete at the Oz Memorial.
