Krsnak and Vlastuin open NCAA Preliminaries

EUGENE, Ore. - Michael Krsnak and Jared Vlastuin opened up competition at the NCAA Track and Field Championships West Preliminary Thursday at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.

Krsnak failed to make the top 12 to advance to the finals in the 10,000 meters, ending his season. He finished with a 38th-place finish in a time of 30 minutes 32.76 seconds.

Vlastuin competed in his first event of the Preliminaries, the long jump. He finished seventh in his heat with a mark of 23 feet 3.25 inches, but did not finish in the top-12 to advance to the Championships. Vlastuin continues competition in the Preliminaries with an appearance in the high jump.

The Preliminaries continue Friday with Ben Jasinski and Vlastuin in the high jump and Sean Burns and Brooke Garner in the hammer throw. Jasinski appears in the triple jump Saturday, along with Mary Wirth in the high jump.
