Jasinski falls short of Championships spot
EUGENE, Ore. - Ben Jasinski fell short of an NCAA Championships qualifying spot in the high jump Friday as the South Dakota State University tracksters continued the weekend at the NCAA Championships West Preliminaries Friday from Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Jasinski placed 13th in the high jump with a leap of six feet 11 inches, but only the top 12 finishers advance to the Championships. He ranked 12th in the region entering the West Preliminaries. Jasinski makes a second appearance in the West Preliminaries Saturday in the triple jump.
Brooke Garner ended her sophomore campaign with a 40th-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 172-1. She ranked 27th in the event prior to the Preliminaries.
Sean Burns, who ranked 44th heading into the weekend, finished 36th in the hammer throw with a throw of 184-10, ending his track and field career with the Jackrabbits.
The West Preliminaries wrap up Saturday with Jasinski's triple jump appearance and Mary Wirth in the high jump.
