EUGENE, Ore. - Mary Wirth and Ben Jasinski wrapped up competition for the South Dakota State University track and field teams at the NCAA West Preliminaries Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Wirth finished the high jump in 17th after a leap of five feet seven inches, ending her freshman campaign. The top 12 finishers in the event advance to the finals. Wirth ranked 22nd in the region heading into the weekend with a school-record leap of 5-9.75.
Jasinski finished the triple jump in 34th place with a leap of 48-11, ending his track and field career with the Jackrabbits. Friday, Jasinski fell short of a qualifying spot at the Championships in the high jump. He finished 13th in the event with a jump of 6-11, with only the top 12 advancing to finals.
Wirth and Jasinski's events conclude the outdoor track and field season for the Jacks.
