ANKENY, Iowa - South Dakota State sophomore golfer Katie Purcell carded a two-over 73 on Wednesday at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa, to capture one of three spots in the Women's Amateur Public Links Sectional Qualifier.

"For Katie to qualify to her first USGA event after just one year of collegiate golf is a great accomplishment," SDSU Head Golf Coach Jared Baszler said. "Katie punching her ticket to Bandon Dunes makes two current and one former player (Brodie Hullinger, 2007) who have qualified for this event. That is a strong testament to our program!"

An Ames, Iowa, native, Purcell advances to the USAPL on June 27-July 2, at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Brandon, Ore.
