Witzmann tabbed by MVFC
For the second time this season, South Dakota State tackle Bryan Witzmann has been honored as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week.
A junior from Houlton, Wis., Witzmann received a championship grade of 1.86 in the Jackrabbits' 41-28 victory over Youngstown State on Oct. 27. SDSU racked up its largest point total of the season and the second-largest total offense output (416 yards), throwing for a season-best 351 yards and five touchdowns.
Witzmann also received the honor following the Jackrabbits' Sept. 22 victory at Indiana State. He is the third SDSU player to receive a league award this week, joining sophomore quarterback Austin Sumner as MVFC Offensive Player of the Week and freshman linebacker T.J. Lally as MVFC Newcomer of the Week.
South Dakota State, 6-2 overall and 4-1 in league play, resume action Saturday (Nov. 3) at Southern Illinois. The Jackrabbits enter the week ranked 21st in the Sports Network media poll and 25th by the Football Championship Subdivision coaches.
