Garner keeps on winning
LINCOLN, Neb. – The South Dakota State Jackrabbits competed in the Sioux City Relays and the Nebraska Quad today. Brooke Garner kept her hot streak rolling as she won her fourth event in three weeks.
In the hammer throw, Garner won the event with a toss of 198’ 3.00” and McKenzie Johnson recorded a new personal best with her distance of 154’ 9.00”.
Johnson also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 44’ 6.00”.
In the discus throw, Garner finished second with her distance 161’ 1.00”.
Tera Potts recorded a new personal best in the 1500-meter run with her time of 4:37.71. Potts finished second in the race.
In the javelin throw, Amy Paulzine finished third with a distance of 135’ 11.00”. She also placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 151’ 2.00”.
Carly Carper took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17’ 6.25”.
Bren and Carper also competed in the 200-meter dash. Bren finished in 24.82 and Carper completed the race in 24.88.
Amy Leiferman recorded a height of 10’ 8.75” in the pole vault.
In the high jump, Kali Olson posted a height of 5’ 3.00”.
Meghan Hurlbert ran the 400-meter dash in 1:01.00.
In the 800-meter run, Krista Creager placed third with her time of 2:14.88.
Lori Foltz posted a time of 1:06.31 in the 400-meter hurdles; she finished fourth in the event.
Jenna Grossenburg placed sixth in the 3000-meter run with her time of 10:23.56.
Finishing fifth in the triple jump was Meghan Lambert. Lambert finished with a distance of 34’ 5.00”.
To end the day the Jackrabbits finished third in the 4x400-meter relays. The team of Bren, Ashley Odegaard, Foltz and Hurlbert combined for a time of 3:58.15.
A handful of Jackrabbits went to Sioux City, Iowa to compete in the Sioux City Relays.
SDSU will be splitting up the teams next weekend as they travel to California and Kansas. Out west the Jacks will be competing in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach State Invite. SDSU will also be competing in the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan. starting on Wednesday.
