Jacks take 2nd at Northwestern College Invite

ORANGE CITY, IOWA-- The South Dakota State men’s golf team finished in 2nd place at the 18-hole Northwestern College Spring Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.

The tournament featured NAIA schools and their JV teams and was a late addition to the schedule to provide one final tune-up before The Summit League Championship next week.

The Jacks shot 293 as a team at the 6,456-yard, par-71 Landsmeer Golf Club, finishing 11-strokes behind host and winner Northwestern College (Iowa).

A pair of Jackrabbits tied for 4th place with senior Greg Fehrman and junior Lukas Davison posting 18-hole totals of 72.

Senior Brian Wynia also fired a 72 and tied for 4th place but competed as an individual.

Sophomore Dillion Schultz tied for 12th place with a round of 74 and freshman Miles Knutsen finished one-stroke back (75) to finish tied for 14th place.

Junior Hudson Carpenter finished in 24th place after a round of 78.

Two other SDSU golfers competed individually and tied for 19th place, with senior David Smith and freshman AC Sitter both carding rounds of 76.

The Jackrabbits now set their sights on The Summit League Championship, held April 22-24 at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Course in Keller, Texas. 

SDSU plays host to this year’s conference tournament in conjunction with The Summit League.
