SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Senior Hudson Carpenter leads the pack by four strokes after 36 holes at the second annual Jackrabbit Fall Invitational, being held at the 6,424-yard, par-71 Minnehaha Country Club.

The Jackrabbits sit atop the leaderboard in the team standings after a windy opening day of the tournament on Monday. SDSU posted rounds of 295 and 292 for a day one total of 587, holding a one-stroke lead over North Dakota State (292-296-588).

Head coach Jared Baszler said his team is right where they wanted to be after day one, but said there is still a lot of golf to be played.

"Playing conditions will be more favorable on day two and we need to take full advantage of them to post our best round. Tuesday is going to be a great experience for our teams to see how they handle playing with a lead," Baszler said.

Carpenter fired rounds of 69 and 70 for a 36-hole total of 139 (season low). The senior from Stillwater, Minn., carded four birdies in the opening round and two in the second round and is 3-under par with a four stroke lead over NDSU's Bill Carlson (68-75-143) heading into the final round Tuesday.

Joining Carpenter in the top-10, sophomore Dylan Baker (+5) is tied for sixth place after shooting rounds of 75 and 72 (season low) for a two-round score of 147 (season low). The Eden Prairie, Minn., product notched three birdies in the first round and followed up with three more birdies and an eagle in round two.

Grant Smith (+8) continues to look like a mainstay in the Jackrabbit lineup. The freshman carded rounds of 76 and 74 for a 36-hole score of 150. Smith is tied for 14th place and recorded four birdies on the day.

Senior Lukas Davison (+9) is tied for 20th place heading into the final round on Tuesday. Davison posted six birdies and scored rounds of 75 and 76 for a total of 151.

Ian Rinken (+13) shot rounds of 78 and 77 for a two-round total of 155. The freshman notched six birdies and sits in 31st place.

SDSU has two individual golfers competing unattached.

Sophomore Austin Sitter (+8) carded rounds of 77 and 73 (season low) for a 36-hole score of 150 (season low). Sitter is tied for 14th place.

Freshman Trevor Tobin (+23) posted rounds of 82 and 83 and is in 43rd place with a day one total of 165.
