Bowers leads SDSU at Griak

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – The South Dakota State women’s cross country team finished 23rd overall at the 2013 Griak Invitational. Cheyanne Bowers led the Jackrabbits with her time of 22:44.65. She finished 121st overall.

Courtney Neubert was next the Jackrabbit to cross the finish line, as she ran a time of 23:00.55 to place 145th. Less than 15 seconds later (23:14.30), Alex Suhr completed the race to take 176th.

Samantha Anderson claimed 198th with her time of 23:26.45. Jessica Eibs finished five spots (203rd) after Anderson with a final time of 23:31.50.

Kirsten Anderson and Laura Lawton finished within three spots of each other. Anderson clocked in at 23:40.40 to take 213th, while Lawton posted a time of 23:42.80 to take 216th.

All of the Jackrabbits set season-best times today at the Griak Invitational.

As a team, SDSU finished 23rd overall with 663 points. No. 5 Arizona won the 6k race with their score of 48 points. The women’s 6k featured 290 runners from 28 teams.

The Jackrabbits are back home next weekend as they host the annual SDSU Classic on Oct. 4 at the Edgebrook Golf Course. The women will run at 6 p.m., and the men will run at 6:30 p.m.
