The South Dakota State women’s soccer team continued their perfect record in Summit League play as they beat Omaha 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. Darci Miller scored the lone goal for SDSU.

“I think it’s a collective effort, whether its Nikki stepping up, a defender, a forward tracking back or a midfielder winning a header, we are finding ways to make plays,” noted head coach Lang Wedemeyer on the Jackrabbit defense.

South Dakota State controlled Omaha throughout the game as they outshot them 19-4. In the first half of the game the Jackrabbits outshot the Mavericks 13-6.

Alyssa Brazil’s shot at the 1:55 mark started the attack for the Jackrabbits. Three minutes later, Nicole Inskeep made her first of two saves of the game on Marquette Pick’s shot on goal (4:51).

After Pick’s shot, SDSU rattled off five shots off their own in a row. Ashley Adams passed the ball to Miller and she beat Meaghan Clark for her second goal of the year (11:05).

Inskeep’s biggest save of the afternoon came on Chelsi Rohloff’s shot attempt. The Omaha offense crossed the ball into the box to a wide-open Rohloff, and she was one on one with Inskeep. Inskeep was ready for Rohloff’s shot and collected her final save of the game (16:01).

The Maverick defense made big stops throughout the first half to keep the game close. Stephanie Krzywania came in for Megan Kingston in the 34th minute and eight minutes later her header was saved by Clark (41:39). The Omaha defense made six saves on the SDSU offense in the first half of the game.

The Jacks took a 1-0 lead into halftime and it was all they needed on the afternoon.

The two teams combined for eight shots in the second frame, but only one was on goal. Clark made her lone in save in the second half on Shelby Raper’s shot (65:18).

Late in the game, SDSU had a great look to extend the lead on Raper’s shot (81:17), but it sailed high over the net.

The SDSU defense kept the Maverick offense in check in the final minutes to preserve their ninth win of the year.

As the game was winding down, Rohloff was given a yellow card (88:15).

SDSU improves to 9-3-2 (4-0-0), while Omaha falls to 3-7-2 (1-2-0).

Inskeep and the Jackrabbit defense have posted nine shutouts on the year.

Raper led the team with four shots, while Rohloff's two shots led Omaha.

The Jackrabbits end their three-game homestand on Saturday, Oct. 19 as they host North Dakota State at 6 p.m.
