Karels leads the Jackrabbit pack at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. – The South Dakota State men’s cross country team posted a 14th place on the evening at the Bradley Classic. Christian Karels was the top finisher for SDSU with his time of 25:40. Karels finished 70th overall in the 8k.

The Jackrabbit men split squads this weekend. The first group competed today at the Bradley Classic and the second group will run at the Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday morning in Terre Haute, Ind. The race is set tomorrow for 10 a.m.

Eight seconds behind Karels was Trevor Capra with his 83rd place finish (25:48).

The next three runners for SDSU all finished within eight seconds of each other. Wilson Hacker (109, 26:05), Dylan Slaba (115, 26:10) and Duane Jongeling (118, 26:13) rounded out the scoring for the Jackrabbits.

Austin Hamm 145th: 26:35
Grant VanKeulen 164th: 26:50

As a team, the Jackrabbits posted 386 points to finish 14th. Host Bradley won the meet with 82 points.

The Jackrabbits are back in action next weekend at the Mount Mary Invitational as they prepare for The Summit League Championships. The Mount Marty Invitational is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 26 in Yankton, S.D.
