Equestrian wrangled by Cowgirls in Stillwater
STILLWATER, Okla. – Santana Wright won her point over fences and earned her first MOP honor of the season in that event, but the South Dakota Sate equestrian team fell to Oklahoma State on Saturday by a 15-3 score in the Cowgirls home opener.
“I’m happy with our performance today overall, although the points were not there,” head coach Megan Rossiter said. “Oklahoma State is tough and we were at their place, but our rides were not too far off.”
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 0-5 on the season, while the Cowgirls first win of the season boosts their record to 1-2 on the season.
Wright, who also earned one MOP award this season on the flat, scored an 87 over fences for the Jacks lone point in the hunt seat events.
The Jackrabbits look to crack the win column next weekend at the New Mexico State Tournament, with meets against the host Aggies and TCU on the schedule on Friday and Saturday. The riding begins on both days at 9 a.m. MT.
