Softball falls twice in Texas
ARLINGTON, Texas – The South Dakota State softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday at the UTA-Maverick Invitational, both of them to Missouri State, falling to the Bears 7-1 in the first game and 2-0 in the tournament semifinals.
The Jackrabbits, who fall to 1-7 on the season, play Central Michigan on Sunday in the tournament consolation game at 10 a.m., while the Bears, who improve to 5-2, play host UT Arlington in the tournament championship on Sunday.
Eight different Jackrabbits posted a hit on the day, with Devan Larsen recording the lone RBI with her team-leading second homerun of the season in the first game. Vanessa Kellems recorded the Jacks other extra base hit in the two games, a double in the second game of the day.
Following Sunday’s tournament finale, the Jackrabbits head to Conway, Ark., next weekend for four games at the Central Arkansas Invitational, with two games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and single games against Alabama State and the host Bears.
