ARLINGTON, Texas – Emily Weber smacked her first homerun of the season to give South Dakota State an early lead in Sunday’s game against Central Michigan, but it would not last, as the Chippewas scored five unanswered runs to down the Jackrabbits 5-1.

SDSU falls to 1-8 with the loss, while CMU improves to 5-4 with the tournament consolation victory.

Weber hit the dinger with one out in the first inning to put the Jacks up 1-0, but the Chippewas got that run back in the bottom of the first and added two runs in both the third and fifth innings to earn the win.

Weber, along with Elyse Eitel, Alyssa D'Agostino and Allison Huffman all went 1 for 3 on the day, with Jennifer Sutton taking the loss after pitching all six innings.

The Jackrabbits return to action next weekend with four games  at the Central Arkansas Invitational, hosted by the Central Arkansas Bears in Conway, Ark.
