CHICAGO -- Following Friday's 4-3 loss to Grand Canyon, South Dakota State closed the weekend out by going 1-1, defeating St. Francis on Saturday and falling to Texas-Pan American Sunday.

In Saturday's sweep, Iasmin Rosa and Jenny Blackburne won No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Ffion Davies and Tacy Haws-Lay, along with Florencia Magni and Beatriz Souza also won their respective matches at No. 2 and No. 3 by scores of 8-2 and 8-3.

SDSU also swept singles as St. Francis only forced a third set in one match.

"The girls played really well against St. Francis," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Moving forward, we still have to handle losing points better, though."

On Sunday, SDSU won the double's point, as Blackburne/Davies and Rose/Haws-Lay both won their respective matchups.

In single's action, Davies and Rosa were the lone Rabbits to pick up wins.

"I was happy with the way we fought and carried ourselves the entire match," Engdahl noted. "UTPA earned the match and we didn't give them anything. This is a match we're going to grow from and will help us later in the year."

SDSU, who now sits at 5-4 on the year, returns to action next weekend at Northern Iowa.
