Kocourek, Florand compete at Zones

MINNEAPOLIS -- South Dakota State University divers Clark Kocourek and Connor Florand each posted top-25 finishes on the 3-meter board Monday at the NCAA Zone D diving championships.

Kocourek, a senior from Omaha, recorded a score of 311.85 over six dives to place 23rd out of 38 competitors in the men's division. A junior from nearby Forest Lake, Minn., Florand was a spot behind his teammate in 24th place with a total of 299.70.

The top 18 divers advanced to the finals, which were won by Michael Hixon of Texas with a combined score of 876.25.

Competition at the NCAA Zone D diving championships continues Tuesday with the men's 1-meter competition.
