Jacks sweep Quinnipiac, 5-2
ORLANDO, Fla. -- South Dakota State opened its Spring Break trip with wins by both the men and women against Quinnipiac Monday afternoon.
On the men's side, SDSU dropped the double's point, but rebounded to win five of six single's matches. Parker Lawley, Lovro Curcija, Henrique Pereira, Mateus Moreira and Gary Notkin all picked up wins on the day.
Lawley and Moreira also won their double's match, 8-4.
"The boys played tremendous singles today," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "We handled losing points extremely well and remained focused throughout the match."
Like the men, the Jackrabbit women lost the double's point, but one five matches in singles. Florencia Magni, Jenny Blackburne, Iasmin Rosa, Ffion Davies, Beatriz Souza and Tacy Haws-Lay were all victorious.
"The girls played great throughout," Engdahl said. "Even though we lost doubles, our energy was great and we were doing the right things."
SDSU continues play tomorrow in Orlando as the men take on Robert Morris and St. Ambrose, while the women will battle Robert Morris and Chicago State.
