Jacks Finish Second
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The South Dakota State women’s golf team posted its fourth top-five finish of the season when it placed second Tuesday behind winner Wichita State at the Kansas City Shootout at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.
The Jacks shot a 937 (309-309-319) on the par-72, 6,124-yard layout, finishing 11 shots behind the Shockers.
Sophomore Sydney MacDonald (Calgary, Alberta) earned her second top-five finish of the season placing fifth in the 90-player field. She shot a 77 in the third round to finish with a 230 (78-75-77), seven shots behind the shootout leader.
Freshman Islamiah Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) shot a 236 (75-79-82) to tie for 14th and junior Myranda Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif.) tied for 17th after shooting 237 (77-76-84). The tied for 17th is Dunmire's first top 20 finish in her career.
Competing as individuals, freshman Megan Mingo (Yankton) tied for 27th, shooting a 240 (82-75-83). Junior Amber Houser (Northfield, Minn.) shot a 254 (84-83-87) to tie for 65th and freshman Hallie Getz (Pierre) shot a 257 (86-85-86) to rank tied for 69th.
The Jackrabbits return to action Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio, for the Delores Black Falcon Invitational.
