MacDonald Finishes Second
BOWLING GREEN. Ohio—Sophomore Sydney MacDonald finished tied for second and the South Dakota State women’s golf team placed fourth at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Jacks shot a 640 (315-325) on the par-72, 5,960-yard layout, finishing 12 shots behind invitational winner Ball State. It was SDSU’s fifth top-five finish this season and second consecutive.
MacDonald’s (Calgary, Alberta) second-place finish is the second-best finish at a tournament in school history. Only one Jackrabbit, Hillary Gerster2007-09), had a better finish, tying for first at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Chandler, Ariz., in 2008.
MacDonald shot a 79 Sunday to finish with a 152, one stroke behind invitational winner Bowling Green’s Lily Bartell in the 90-player field.
Freshman Megan Mingo (Yankton) shot a team-best 77 (160) Sunday to finish tied for 15th.
Freshman Islamiah Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) tied for 65th, shooting a 171 (85-86).
The Jacks return to action April 21-23 at The Summit League Championship in Keller, Texas.
