MacDonald Finishes in Top 10

KELLER, Texas—Sophomore Sydney MacDonald finished tied for eighth overall as the South Dakota State women’s golf team placed fourth at the 2014 Summit League Women’s Golf Championship at the Sky Creek Ranch in Keller, Texas.

The Jacks shot a 322 at the 72, 6,953-yard layout and finished the championship with a 967 (321-324-322). SDSU improved three spots from last year. No. 41 Denver won the title, shooting an 887 for the three-day event.

MacDonald shot a 79 in the final round and a 235 (79-77-79) for the championship. The Calgary, Alberta, native was five-over par on the front nine and two-over on the back nine. MacDonald collected eight top-10 finishes this season.

Freshman Islamiah Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) was the second Jack to finish in the top 20, placing 13th after shooting a 79 (82-80-79=241) in the final round and collecting a birdie on the eighth hole.

Sophomore Brianna Janu (Glenwood, Minn.) tied for 17th after shooting an 80 (83-81-80=244). She had two birdies on the 7th and 11th holes.

Freshman Megan Mingo (Yankton) fired an 84 (77-86-84=247), finishing 20th, and junior Myranda Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif.) shot an 86 (86-89-86=261) to finish 32nd.
