Jackrabbits Picked Eighth in Poll
ELMHURST, Ill.—The South Dakota State volleyball team was picked to finish eighth in The Summit League during the 2014 season, according to the preseason poll released Thursday.
After finishing runner-up in both the regular season and at the league tournament a year ago, Denver was tabbed as the league’s favorite in the poll, which was conducted by the league’s coaches. The Pioneers earned 60 points and six first-place votes. Fort Wayne was picked second in the poll, edging IUPUI, which won the 2013 Summit League regular-season and tournament titles. The Mastodons received 53 points while the Jaguars earned 52 points and three first-place votes.
South Dakota was selected fourth in the poll, with newcomer Oral Roberts and North Dakota State completing the upper half of the poll.
Western Illinois was seventh and Omaha ninth.
