Seven different South Dakota State players scored in double figures as the Jackrabbit women’s basketball team cruised to a 105-67 victory over Minnesota-Crookston in exhibition play Tuesday night at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits shot 58.3 percent (35-of-60) from the field for the game, including 12-of-23 from three-point range in the contest. Ketty Cornemann made a pair of three pointers in the first two minutes of the game as SDSU scored the first nine points of the game.

SDSU led by as many as 28 points in the first half before Ana Garcia’s three-pointer at the buzzer for Minnesota-Crookston made the score 52-27 at halftime.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Golden Eagles could get no closer than 23 points the remainder of the game despite shooting 63 percent (17-of-27) in the second half. UMC committed 31 turnovers for the game, many of which led to easy Jackrabbit baskets.

The Jackrabbit bench accounted for 62 of SDSU’s 105 points. Sophomore Kristin Rotert led the Jackrabbits with 16 off the bench. Three other reserves scored in double digits: Vanessa Johnson with 12, Jill Young with 11 and Stacie Oistad with 11. Young also led the team with five assists and shared team-high honors with three steals.

All 13 SDSU players to see action — senior Morgan Meier sat out due to injury — scored in the game. Starters Jennifer Warkenthien (14), Ketty Cornemann (11) and Maria Boever (11) also scored in double figures for the Jackrabbits.

Bri Zabel led Minnesota-Crookston with a game-high 17 points. Jamie Zelinski added 10 points and seven assists off the bench.

Rebounds were even at 29, with Megan Eul pulling down a game-high nine boards for UMC. Warkenthien led SDSU with seven rebounds.

The Jackrabbits made 23-of-31 free throw attempts, 74.2 percent, while UMC was 10-of-13 at the line, 76.9 percent.

SDSU closes out exhibition play Sunday afternoon, hosting Southwest Minnesota State at 2 p.m. at Frost Arena.
