The South Dakota State men's cross country squad took home the team title at the SDSU Classic while the women placed fourth on a rainy Saturday morning at Edgebrook Golf Course.

Michael Krsnak led a husk of Jackrabbits that placed third through seventh in the team scoring on the 8K course. Krsnak crossed the finish line with a time of 25 minutes 48.8 seconds, while Greg Vollmer placed fourth with a time of 25:53.4.

Placing fifth through seventh for SDSU was Anthony Bongard, Marshall Kambestad and Greg Beesley.

James Krajsa of Minnesota State, Mankato took the individual title with a time of 25:32.3.

Nebraska-Kearney placed second in the team standings while MSU placed third overall. The SDSU Alumni also competed, taking eighth overall, led by Chris Gruenhagen with a 21st place finish.

On the women's side, Ashley Storm once again paced the Jacks with a 14th place finish and a time of 18:22.9 in the 5K course. Nicole Davis was the second runner for SDSU, placing 17th with a time of 18:48.1.

Kelsey Aune, Amanda Frohling and Danielle Burke rounded out the team for the Jacks.

The women's race was paced by All-Americans Beverly Ramos of Kansas State and Megan Duwell of Minnesota, who finished first and second, respectively. Ramos finished with a time of 17:11.5 while Duwell crossed the line at 17:27.9.

Minnesota took the team title while Kansas State placed second and North Dakota State took third.

The Jacks will have a week off before the Drews/Neubauer Invitational in La Crosse, Wis. on Oct. 17.
