Graduated: 1988
Inducted: Oct. 13, 2012

Karla Stevenson, who helped elevate the Jackrabbit women's basketball team in the early days of the North Central Conference, joined the Jackrabbit Sports Hall of Fame in the fall of 2012.

Stevenson made her mark on the basketball court, setting the Jackrabbit women's basketball career scoring record with 1,562 points from 1984-87 — a mark that ranked seventh at the time of her induction. A two-time all-North Central Conference selection, the Hayti native averaged 17.7 points per game as a junior during the 1985-86 season and 22.3 points per game as a senior. She continues to hold Jackrabbit single-game marks of 39 points set against Augustana in 1987 and 10 steals versus Sioux Falls in 1985. She also shares the SDSU single-game record with 17 field goals in a game, a mark she reached twice in the span of three weeks during the 1986-87 season.

In addition, Stevenson played softball at SDSU during the 1984 and 1987 seasons. She led the team with 23 runs batted in during the 1987 campaign.
