Women's tennis set to debut at Gopher Invite
The South Dakota State women's tennis team will make its season debut at the Gopher Invite on Sept. 20-22, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
In all, 11 teams will be in competition this weekend. Joining the Jacks and Golden Gophers will be Drake, Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga, Iowa, Iowa State, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
“There is always excitement at the start of any season and the girls have a lot to prove to themselves this year,” said head coach Michael Engdahl. “The fall season is a great measuring stick to see how we stack up against elite programs We’re excited get started and build off of the strong foundation we laid last year.”
The 2013-14 Jacks include five sophomores and a freshman, to go along with a pair of seniors.
SDSU will next be in competition at the Omaha Invite on Sept. 27-29.
