Miners out-dig Jackrabbits at UTEP Invite
EL PASO, Texas – South Dakota State dropped it second match of the day at the UTEP/New Mexico State Invitational on Friday, falling to the host UTEP Miners 3-0 by the set scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 27-25.
“I was pleased with our play in the third set, we had a different look and feel you our play,” head coach Phil McDaniel said. “We just made a few too many defensive miscues tonight.”
The loss drops the Jacks to 2-9 on the season; the Miners even their record at 5-5 with the win.
UTEP’s Xitlali led all players and three Miners with double figure kills with 16. Talia Jones finished with 15 and Taylor Nix 12 kills in the win.
Kacey Herrmann led the Jackrabbit offense with eight kills, Wagner Larson and Courtney Roberts both added seven kills and Lexi Fowler six in the loss. Lizzie Palmer again led the Jacks with 14 digs.
The Jackrabbits close the weekend on Saturday in Las Cruces, N.M., against the New Mexico State Aggies at 2 p.m. MT.
