Men's golf 11th in Mexico tourney

LOS CABOS, Mexico -- The South Dakota State men's golf team fired back-to-back rounds of 313 on Sunday and Monday to open up the Cabo Del Sol Intercollegiate and stand in 11th place heading into the final round on Tuesday.

The tournament is being held at the Cabo Del Sol resort community located near the tip of Mexico's Baja peninsula and features two courses: the 7,091-yard, par-72 Ocean Course (played on Sunday and Tuesday) and the 7,049-yard, par-72 Desert Course (played on Monday).

Hudson Carpenter is the top Jackrabbit golfer with a 36-hole total of 146. The senior posted rounds of 72 on Sunday and 74 on Monday and is tied for 5th place heading into the final round Tuesday.

Senior Lukas Davison is in 52nd place after rounds of 78 and 81 for a two-day total of 159.

Grant Smith is a stroke back at 160 after two rounds and is tied for 53rd place. The freshman posted rounds of 84 and 76.

Sophomore Dylan Baker is in 56th place with scores of 80 and 82 for a 36-hole total of 162.

Austin Sitter shot rounds of 83 and 84 for a two-round total of 167. The sophomore is in 57th place.

San Francisco leads the team standings after two days, with scores of 295 and 284 for a 36-hole mark of 579.

San Francisco's Jobim Carlos is atop the individual leaderboard with rounds of 68 and 70 for a two-round total of 138.

The final round begins Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CST) for the final 18 holes on the Desert Course.
