Carpenter ties for 3rd, Jacks 10th
LOS CABOS, Mexico -- Senior Hudson Carpenter fired a 72 in the final round of the Cabo Del Sol Intercollegiate on Tuesday to finish tied for 3rd place.
Carpenter posted scores of 72 and 74 on Sunday and Monday, respectively, to finish with a three-day tournament total of 218.
The tournament, hosted by Santa Clara, was held on two courses Oct. 6-8, with rounds one and three at the 7,091-yard, par-72 Ocean Course and round two on the 7,049-yard, par-72 Desert Course at the Cabo Del Sol resort community.
As a team, the Jacks finished in 10th place with rounds of 313, 313 and 295 for a 54-hole score of 921.
Senior Lukas Davison carded rounds of 78, 81 and 72 for a three-round score of 231, good for a tie for 43rd place.
Dylan Baker posted scores of 80, 82 and 72 for a 54-hole total of 234. The sophomore tied for 49th place.
UC-Irvine won the team title with scores of 300, 292 and 290 (882), edging out San Francisco (295-284-304-883) by one stroke.
San Francisco's Jobim Carlos took home medalist honors and was the only golfer under par at the tournament, firing a four-under 212 with rounds of 68, 70 and 74.
The Jacks will wrap up the fall portion of the schedule at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by UMKC, in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 14-15.
