Jackrabbits travel to Mount Marty
The South Dakota State cross country teams are set to embark in their final race before The Summit League Cross Country Championships. The Jackrabbits will be competing at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton, S.D. on Oct. 26.
MOUNT MARTY INVITE
The women will run a 5k starting at 10:30 a.m. and the men compete in an 8k at 11:15 a.m.
The Mount Marty Invite takes place at the HSC Grounds in Yankton, S.D.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, 23 runners set personal best times. SDSU sent a group of men and women to the Bradley Classic and another group of men to the Pre-Nationals meet.
The women ran to a sixth place finish behind Cheyanne Bowers who ran a time of 21:31. Bowers placed 14th overall.
The men’s team that went to Bradley took 14th overall. Christian Karels’ time of 25:40 was the fastest for the Jackrabbits at Bradley.
The Pre-Nationals group finished 29th out of 52 teams. Trent Lusignan was the top finisher for SDSU as he placed 19th overall with his time of 23:49.65.
After starting the year being ranked No. 12, the Jackrabbit men have moved up to the No. 11 spot in the Midwest Region according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
SUMMIT LEAGUE HONORS
Joel Reichow and Lusignan have each been named The Summit League’s Athlete of the Week on multiple occasions this year. Reichow claimed the award twice this year along with being named The Summit League’s Athlete of the Month for Aug./Sept.
Lusignan captured his third Athlete of the Week award earlier this week for his performance at the Pre-Nationals meet this past weekend. Lusignan has four career Athlete of the Week awards.
The Jackrabbits head to Fort Wayne, Ind. for The Summit League Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2. The men run the 8k race at 10 a.m. (EDT) and the women run a 6k at 11 a.m. (EDT)
