Jacks Extend Home Winning Streak to Seven

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Three Jackrabbits scored in double figures as the South Dakota State women’s basketball team (5-4) defeated NJIT (2-7), 71-46, Monday night in front of 1,141 fans at Frost Arena.

Juniors Megan Waytashek (Lino Lakes, Minn.) and Mariah Clarin (Princeton, Minn.) each scored a game-high 12 points while freshman Kerri Young (Mitchell) tallied 10 points. Waytashek added a season- and game-high eight rebounds for the Jackrabbits.

South Dakota State took control of the game midway through the first half when it used a 13-3 run to take a 19-12 lead with 7:54 remaining in the half. The Jacks held the Highlanders to just four points the final 10:10 of the half. Junior Gabby Boever (Worthington, Minn.) scored seven of her nine points in the first half to lead the Jackrabbits.

NJIT was led by Alana Dudley and Shakia Robinson with eight points each.

South Dakota State travels to Green Bay, Wis., when it plays Wisconsin-Green Bay Saturday at noon.
