Ary begins indoor season with two titles
FARGO, N.D. – Jeremiah Ary started off the 2013-14 indoor track and field season on the right foot as he won two events on Friday evening at the Dakota Duals. Ary won both the long jump and the triple jump.
He won the long jump event with a mark of 23’ 5.25” and claimed the triple jump title with a distance of 46’ 1.25”. His marks at the Dakota Duals are new indoor personal bests for him. During the indoor season last year he posted distances of 22’ 2.50” (long jump) and 45’ 0.25” (triple jump).
The Jackrabbits had four runners finish in the top-ten in the 60-meter dash. Freshman Bo Arnold led the Jacks with his time of 7.18 (sixth). LeAndre Kennedy crossed the finish line right after Arnold with his final time of 7.19. Joey Merz (7.25) and Joe Bednar (7.26) finished back-to-back with their ninth and 10th place finishes.
In the 200-meter dash, three Jackrabbit runners finished in the top-five. Jesse Dunn won the event with his overall time of 36.38. Jared Thomsen and Levi Winkels ran times of 36.82 and 37.66 to place fourth and fifth, respectively.
Thomsen also placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with his overall time of 8.80.
Alex Wiemann made his Jackrabbit debut with a third place finish in the 400-meter dash; he clocked in at 51.45.
Traxton Priebe posted a pair of top-ten finishes. He ran a time of 57.76 in the 400-meter dash to place fifth and placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with his final time of 9.05.
Freshman Zach Koosman won the high jump with his height of 6’ 6.00”. He also posted a distance of 20’ 9.00” to place fifth overall in the long jump.
Jake Sanderson posted a fourth place finish in the triple jump event with his mark of 44’ 5.50”.
Bennett Mercil won was the lone Jackrabbit to compete in the shot put event. He recorded a distance of 42’ 2.00” to place seventh overall.
The Jackrabbits do not compete again until Jan. 18 as they travel back to Fargo, N.D., to take part in the NDSU Invite.
