Mascarenas and Holler Take Worthington Open Crown

WORTHINGTON, Minn. -- Paul Mascarenas and Colin Holler each won their first collegiate tournament Saturday, as the duo won the Worthington Open as 125 lbs and 157 lbs, respectively.

Mascarenas opened the day with a pin of Dillon Thooft (Augustana) at 2:23. The freshman went on to record back-to-back decisions over Taylor Curtis (Southwest Minnesota State) and David Potratz (Augustana), 8-2 and 6-1, respectively.

Following a first-round bye, Holler majored Marcus Nelson (Unattached), 11-3, before pinning Grant Steen (Northern State) and defeating Bryce Andrews (Minnesota State), 8-1 in the finals.

The Jacks will open Western Wrestling Conference action tomorrow as they are set to take on Wyoming in Gillette at 1 p.m.
