KATY, Texas – South Dakota State’s Blair Long competed at the Pin Oak Collegiate Challenge on Sunday, but came up short in the first round of the equitation over fences event to Delaware State rider Carlin Savage.

A junior from Dayton, Va., Long scored a 70 on a horse named Big Bang, but Savage scored a 75 on the same horse.

Savage advanced to the finals in the eight-rider bracketed event, where she fell to Baylor’s Paige Parker.

The Jackrabbit equestrian team returns to action this weekend, when they host Delaware State, Fresno State and UT-Martin in the NCEA Inedependent Championship Tournament at the DeHaan Equestrian Center on Friday and Saturday.
