STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The South Dakota State’s women’s golf team opened play Sunday at the 21st annual John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate at the Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga., with a 334 to tie for 15th.

Georgia State leads the field, shooting a 300 at the par-72, 6,164-yard layout.

Sophomore Sydney MacDonald (Calgary, Alberta) shot an eight-over par 80 (42-38), including birdies at the 11th, 14th and 16th holes to lead SDSU.

Sophomore Brianna Janu (Glenwood, Minn.) is in a tie for 65th after shooting an 84 (43-41).

Juniors Alli Plath (Onalaska, Wis.) and Myranda Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif.) are one shot behind Janu, firing 85’s.

Freshman Islamiah Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) finished the first round with an 87.

The Jackrabbits’ second round begins Monday at 9 a.m. CT.
