Wirth garners league honors
ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State’s Mary Wirth has been named The Summit League's Outdoor Track and Field Female Athlete of the Week.
Wirth, a junior, set the school record in the high jump (5 feet, 10 3/4 inches) last weekend in a win at the Arizona State University Invitational. She held the old school record of 5-9 3/4, which she set at the 2011 Howard Wood Dakota Relays. Wirth also holds the indoor high jump school record of 5-10.
She is currently tied for seventh in the nation in the high jump event.
This is the first career award for Wirth.
Wirth and the Jackrabbits are set to compete Saturday at the Dakota Duals in Yankton, S.D.
