BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota State sophomore Sydney MacDonald (Calgary, Alberta) was named The Summit League Female Golfer of the Week Wednesday, after finishing as the runner-up at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio this past weekend.

MacDonald’s second-place finish in the invitational is the second-best finish at a tournament in SDSU school history. Only one Jackrabbit, Hillary Gerster (2007-09), had a better finish, tying for first at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Chandler, Ariz., in 2008.

MacDonald shot a 79 April 13 to finish with a 36-hole 152, one stroke behind invitational winner Bowling Green’s Lily Bartell in the 90-player field. MacDonald’s finish was her second consecutive top-five finish and third this season.

MacDonald enters the 2014 Summit League Championship in Keller, Texas, April 21-23 eighth in the league with a 78.64 scoring average.
