BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota State’s Hudson Carpenter (Stillwater, Minn.) was named The Summit League Men’s Golfer of the Year Wednesday following a vote of the head coaches.

The senior finished the season ranked first in the league with a 72.77 stroke average after 31 rounds. Carpenter had two first-place finishes this season, winning the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational and the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate, and placed in the top 10 in 6 of 11 events.

At The Summit League Championship, Carpenter placed in a three-way tie for seventh, shooting a 227 (75-73-79) and helped the Jackrabbits finish third.

The three-time first-team all-league selection is the second Jackrabbit to be honored as The Summit League Golfer of the Year. Former Jack Trent Peterson won the award in 2009.
