The South Dakota State men’s and women’s cross country teams open the 2014 season at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D. Friday, Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m.

The Bison Open will be held at the Rose Creek Golf Course. The last time the Jackrabbits ran on this course, at the NDSU Triangular Aug. 30, 2013, the men placed first out of four teams while the women took third out of four teams.

The men’s team was selected to win its third-consecutive Summit League title in the preseason poll, which was voted on by the league’s head coaches. Ranked 10th in the Midwest Region in the USTFCCCA poll, the Jackrabbits return four 2013 all-Summit League honorees, All-American Trent Lusignan, Joel Reichow, Brendan Sage and Drew Kraft.

The women’s team was tabbed as a co-favorite to win the Summit League crown with South Dakota in the preseason poll. The Jackrabbits were the only Summit League squad to be ranked in the USTFCCCA poll, coming in at No. 14 in the Midwest Region. South Dakota State returns all five 2013 all-Summit League performers: Cheyanne Bowers, Jessica Eibs, Courtney Neubert, Laura Lawton and Jenna Grossenburg.

The teams will travel to Falcon Heights, Minn. to compete in the Oz Memorial Friday, Sept. 5.
