John Thomas, a 6-5 forward from Alexandria, S.D., shared NCC Most Valuable Player honors as a senior in 1969, after earning all-NCC honors in 1968. Thomas scored 1,178 points and averaged 15.5 points for his 76-game career. Following his career at SDSU he had a tryout with the Boston Celtics, but was cut when they activated Jo Jo White.

Thomas served as head coach at Augustana from 1980-83, posting a 42-39 record. When his coaching career ended, Thomas became director of development at Augustana (1983-87). After stops at Avila College Home Foundation in Sioux Falls, he returned as assistant to the president at Augustana. In 1992, he joined Augustine Medical, Inc., where he is currently president and chief operating officer. Thomas and his family live in Eden Prairie, Minn.
