South Dakota State closes the first half of The Summit League season this weekend at home with matches against UMKC on Friday and against South Dakota on Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. inside Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits return home after winning two of three matches on the road last weekend, starting with a win at Valparaiso on Wednesday, followed by a Summit League split over the weekend, with a loss at IPFW on Friday and a win at Oakland on Saturday.

SDSU avenged a five-set loss to Valparaiso at the Hawkeye Challenge on Aug. 25, with a 3-1 win against the Crusaders on Wednesday.

The Jacks played well at IPFW on Friday, but the Mastodons played just a little bit better in a 3-0 sweep of the Jackrabbits by the set scores of 26-24, 25-20 and 25-23.

Coming off the loss, the Jackrabbits struggled at times in Saturday's match at Oakland, but they came through in the end to win the five-set affair against the Golden Grizzlies.

Kelli Fiegen led the Jackrabbits in the three matches with 38 kills, with a .312 hitting percentage, adding a team-high 22 total blocks, which includes three solo blocks and 19 block assists.

Shay Birath led the SDSU defense with 61 digs and with a pair of service aces. Lizzie Palmer also posted a pair of aces in the three matches.
