Jacks set to compete at Minnesota

After not being able to compete at the Bison Classic last weekend, the Jackrabbits are heading to the University of Minnesota to compete in the Jack Johnson Invite.

 

About the Jack Johnson Invite:

 

Teams competing at the Jack Johnson Invite are:


Augustana

Manitoba

Minnesota (Men are ranked eighth in the nation)

North Dakota State

Northern Illionis

South Dakota State

Western Michigan


Last year at the Jack Johnson Invite:


Michael Krsnak finished second in the one mile run with a time of 4:09.03. The time was 0.13 seconds off the leader.

Jared Foote was fifth in the 400 meter dash and 10th in the 200 meter dash.

The 4x400 meter relay team as fifth.

Trent Lusignan was sixth in the 3000 meter run.

Bennett Mercil was sixth in the heptathlon.


Chris Curry was seventh in the 200 meter dash.
Calvin Cammack and Ryan Schaefer were seventh and ninth in the pole vault, respectively.

Mary Wirth finished second in the high jump and sixth in the triple jump.

Ashley Odegaard was third in the long jump and ninth in the 60 meter dash.

Brooke Garner was fourth in the weight throw.

Megan Bren was ninth in the 200 meter dash.

Krista Creager was 10th in the 800 meter run.

Erin Hargens was 10th in the 3000 meter run.

 

Early season highlights:

 

So far the Jackrabbits have been to one meet this season; SDSU competed at the Mankato Preseason Open back on December 8th.

 

In his first collegiate meet LeAndre Kennedy set the third-best 60-meter dash time in SDSU history (7.02).

 

Bren found a great start to her season with four-top five finishes, including wins in the 200-meter dash (25.66) and in the 60-meter dash (7.80).

 

Bren’s time of 7.80 seconds in the 60-meter dash tied Odegaard for the fourth-best time in SDSU history.

 

Shelby Assmus’ mark of 53’ 11.75” in the weight throw is now her new personal best; her old mark was 51’ 4.53”.

 

Around the Summit League:

 

With only meet underneath the Jackrabbits belt they still have performances among the best in the league.

 

Kennedy has the second-best 60-meter dash time (7.02).

 

Bren has the second-best 60-meter dash time (7.80); she also holds the third-best time in the 200-meter dash as well (25.13).

 

Levi Winkels’ 400-meter dash time of 50.85 is the third-best.

Jake Sanderson owns the third-best triple jump with a distance of 43’ 11.75”.

 

Assmus has the third-best weight throw with a mark of 53’ 11.75”.

 

Next up:

 

The Jackrabbits will be heading to Ames, Iowa on January 26, to take part in the Bill Bergan hosted by Iowa State.
