SANTA BARBARA, Calif.  - The South Dakota State softball team got big days at the plate from Alex Landon and Kori Seidlitz, but the Jackrabbits stranded nine runners in an 8-2 loss to Seattle on Friday in the first game of the Gaucho Classic II on Friday.

The loss drops the Jacks to 6-9 on the season, while the Redhawks improve to 8-5.

Landon led the Jackrabbits with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Seidlitz went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, which came in the first inning that put SDSU on top 1-0.

SDSU increased that lead to 2-0 in the fourth in a Kelly Kleppin RBI single to centerfield that scored Sammy Bingham, who opened the inning with a walk.

The lead did not last though, as Seattle bounced back with four runs on three hits and one SDSU error in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.

The Redhawks would add a single run in the fifth and then salt away the win in with three runs in the sixth inning.

The Jackrabbits look to get back on the winning track with two games on the schedule for Saturday, starting with a rematch with Seattle at 12 p.m. PT and a 2:30 p.m. PT game against host UC Santa Barbara.
