South Dakota State Athletics filled a pair of positions within the Jackrabbit ticket office with the addition of Adam Heemeyer as the assistant athletic director for ticket operations and Dan Haverkamp as the ticket sales coordinator.

“We’re extremely excited to add both Adam and Dan to the staff,” associate athletic director for tickets and marketing Christi Williams said. “They each bring expertise in different areas and should relate very well with our supportive season ticket holders and donors.”

A Castlewood native and 2001 graduate of South Dakota State, Heemeyer joins the Jackrabbits after seven years at the Schwan’s Food Company, where he most recently coordinated their sport marketing inventory and corporate sponsor events.

Heemeyer served in a number of different roles in his seven years with Schwan’s, including the development of an internal SharePoint website for corporate ticket requests and venue information, a streamlined process that that increased ticket usage by 99 percent. He also negotiated a deal to pursue a sponsorship with the Mall of America that resulted in the first-ever Schwan’s retail ice cream kiosk at Nickelodeon Universe and a deal for Schwan’s to become the official ice cream of the Minnesota Wild and Xcel Energy Center.

Heemeyer began his duties at South Dakota State on June 17.

Dan Haverkamp comes to South Dakota State from Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind., where he spent the last year working as an external operations intern for the Bulldogs. In that role, he supervised the ticket operations and student employees during home volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s basketball games. He also oversaw will call operations during home football and men’s basketball games, including pass lists and visiting team tickets.

Before his days at Butler, Haverkamp worked as a graduate assistant for events and facilities at Western Illinois University, where he earned a master’s degree in sport management in 2012. In that role, he managed the game day staff of ushers, volunteers and interns for the Fighting Leatherneck men’s and women’s basketball games. He also developed an emergency action plan for all outdoor venues and served as the event management contact for all home games.

An Iowa City, Iowa native, Haverkamp graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa in 2010 with a degree in sport management, with an emphasis on radio, television and journalism.

Haverkamp begins his duties at South Dakota State on July 8.
