Baylor outrides Jacks at Willis Invitational
WACO, Texas – The South Dakota State equestrian team got more strong rides from a trio of freshmen, but still came up on the short end of a contest with Baylor on Saturday in the final meet of the Willis Invitational, falling to the host Bears 12-4.
“Although we lost by eight points, I’m still happy with a lot of our rides today,” head coach Megan Rossiter said. “And I’m happy with winning four MOPs this weekend.”
The Jackrabbits, who fall to 0-3 on the season, got swept in the hunt seat events, but got an MOP ride from Raivenne Scott, who scored a 76 in reining to improve to 3-0 on the season. Freshman Christina Dexter mad the most of her collegiate debut, scoring a 72 in the reining ring for her first-career point.
The Jackrabbit equestrian team returns to action on Oct. 12, in a hunt seat exhibition against Minnesota, followed by a western exhibition against Minnesota-Crookston and a hunt seat exhibition against North Dakota State, both on Oct. 19.
