Jackrabbit Hunt Seat wins big
RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Five South Dakota State hunt seat riders won their respective sections, two riders qualified for IHSA Regionals and the team won high-point team honors in an IHSA hunt seat event on Saturday in River Falls, Wis.
"The girls keep riding consistently well. We did awesome at the WEF Challenge, rode great at UT-Martin and they were looked impressive again today. Now we just need to stay strong for our show at Georgia next weekend," interim assistant coach Leigh Nichol said. "Today each rider went in with a plan, stuck with it and accomplished their goals. I have complete faith in the talent and athletic ability of our team, we just need to keep working hard, and I believe the success will keep following."
Jenna Boscardin won in intermediate over fences and then finished second in intermediate on the flat to qualify for the IHSA Regional show on March 5-6 in Crookston, Minn. All of which earned her high-point rider honors for the day. Skye Byrnes won her section of novice on the flat to earn an invitation to IHSA Regionals.
Megan Violand won her section of novice flat and finished second in intermediate over fences to earn reserve high-point rider honors. Other winners on the day include Santana Wright in novice over fences and Victoria Pecak in intermediate on the flat.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Feb. 25-27, in Athens, Ga., at the Bulldog Invitational to compete against New Mexico State, UT-Martin and host Georgia.
