Gebhart earns All-American honors
Varsity Equestrian named South Dakota State senior Angela Gebhart to its first-ever All-American list of recipients this week, a list that includes only the top four riders in each of the respective events offered by Varsity Equestrian (equitation on the flat, equitation over fences, horsemanship and reining).
A Maple Grove, Minn., native, Gebhart earned the honor in reining, where she compiled a 6-1 record this season, with four MVP awards. She also tied for the highest winning percentage in the nation among reining riders and finished second in the nation with an average score of 71.50.
"It would be an understatement to say that we're all very proud of Angie. Not only for this prestigious honor, but for what she's accomplished in her entire career at SDSU," SDSU interim head coach Joe Humphrey said. "Obviously we were very disappointed when we did not get selected as a team to compete at Varsity Equestrian National Championships, but this eases that somewhat."
