South Dakota State Head Equestrian Coach Megan Rossiter announces the signing of Lexus Hoffmann, who signed a National Letter of Intent in the fall, indicating her plans to enroll at South Dakota State in the fall of 2012 and compete on the Jackrabbit equestrian team.

"Lexus is a very talented rider with an extensive competitive background," Rossiter said. "She will make a valuable addition to the team next year."

A Whitewater, Wis., native Hoffman began riding 15 years ago and started showing in the all-around division more than 10 years ago. In both 2007 and 2008, Hoffman placed in the top-10 in equitation, showmanship and horsemanship at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress and rode to the semi-finalsoHHo in equitation at the American Quarter Horse Youth Association 2011 World Championship.

An honor roll student at Whitewater High School, Hoffman stays actively involved in her local FFA chapter, and in her sophomore year, she went to Washington with FFA Leadership. She also volunteers through her church and helps in numerous community outreach programs.

Hoffman plans on majoring in agricultural business with a minor in equine management at South Dakota State.
